This interactive discussion focuses on the need to communicate effectively with your patients about the uncertainty around healthcare. How members communicate and explain that uncertainty to patients is critical to best practice and minimising medico legal exposure. Various scenarios will be discussed together with specific questions asked by members.

Dr Rob Walters is an experienced GP from Hobart, Tasmania and previous clinico-legal advisor at MIPS. Dr Walters will facilitate this interactive session delivering a series of probing questions to Dr Ranjana Srivastava around the specific concern around uncertainty in the delivery of healthcare.
Dr Srivastava is an internationally-renowned oncologist and award-winning author. She is a regular columnist for The Guardian newspaper. Her first book, Tell Me the Truth: Conversations with my Patients about Life and Death was shortlisted for a major literacy award. Her second book, Dying for a Chat: Communication Breakdown between Doctors and Patients won the Human Rights Literature Prize.
